Our Status and COVID-19
Our Current Status Regarding COVID-19
We understand that garbage collection is vitally important to our community. At this time, as a governor-defined essential service, we are operating normally. We have taken several measures to minimize contact between our employees in order to help keep them healthy. Some changes we have implemented are: temporarily eliminating our weekly team meetings, requiring employees to communicate electronically vs in-person whenever possible, disinfecting surfaces throughout the day, and educating our employees on the importance of hand washing and good hygiene. The good thing about our collection system is that we are almost entirely fully automated. This means, we have just one driver per truck and if customers are preparing and placing their carts correctly, the driver should not have to get out of his truck at all.
We would like to use this moment to educate you on cart placement and preparation to reduce or eliminate your drivers’ need to get out of their truck to handle your carts. Carts should be placed within 3 feet of the roadside or curb. They should also be placed at least 1 foot from each other and we ask that they are placed 3 feet from any objects such as vehicles, mailboxes, etc. It is also extremely important to make sure you seal your garbage bags tightly and place them in your garbage cart. The lid on your cart should close flat to reduce the risk of garbage falling to the ground when your cart is emptied.
We ask that you use online or over the phone payment methods, unless absolutely necessary, in order to reduce our office staff’s physical interaction with the public. We also have a locked payment drop box outside of our Canby office, located at 1600 SE 4th Ave.
At this time, we are running normally, both on the route and in our offices, so we are here for you. You can reach us by phone, email, and by Facebook message. We will update all of our communication channels if anything changes, but at this time, we do not anticipate any interruption in services.
We are encouraging everyone to do their part to help slow the spread of this virus and keep yourself and each other healthy.
We wish you all good health. Please reach out to us if you have any questions at all.
Sincerely,
The Kahut Waste Services Team
